There is a lot going on that we could get caught sulking in. For us, a family in our home school group lost husband and father on Wednesday. Among other tragedies that occur every day this is one of the most senseless. While riding his bike in the bike lane of a road near here, someone lost control and hit him with their car. He leaves behind a wife and five children.
Personally this has been hard to wrestle with because I don’t understand how this fits into God’s plan for Salvation. What possible benefit could this act bring to this woman and children? Why would God allow this to happen? What’s the purpose?
This morning I woke up singing this song in my head. The first lines are,
“There’s a peace I’ve come to know,
Though my heart and flesh may fail,
There’s an anchor for my soul,
I can say, “It is well”.”
Isn’t that what it is all about for the rest of us? Peace in knowing that God has it covered. Peace in knowing that Christ will comfort the afflicted. Peace in knowing that this wonderful man is with an ever loving God in heaven. Peace in knowing that we have an anchor for the soul as we read in Hebrews.
Please join me today in praying this song in search of peace. Please pray for the soul of Bob Firehammer, that his family be comforted and find peace. God bless you.
I Will Rise: Chords, by Chris Tomlin
Capo 1
There’s a peace I’ve come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There’s an anchor for my soul
I can say, “It is well”
PreChorus
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead
Chorus
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise I will rise
Verse 2
There’s a day that’s drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes
Prechorus
Chorus
Bridge
And I hear the voice of many angels sing
“Worthy is the Lamb!”
And I hear the cry of every longing heart
“Worthy is the Lamb!”
“Worthy is the Lamb!”
PreChorus
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead
Chorus
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise I will rise
